Green Tea For Ice Cream?

Time for some ice cream mixed with green tea....Wait, what? Yes, you heard me right, green tea with ice cream, now that is something we don't get everyday. Our crusade for truth and gastronomic adventure led us to the doors of Nana's Green Tea.

Nana's Green Tea offers an assortment of drinks and health meals but most importantly, ice cream made out of blended green tea. Curious to know how a blended green tea ice cream looks like? Lets find out.

This towering ice cream consist of three layers. The top made out of cream, green tea ice cream, sweet flour balls and blended red beans. The second layer is made of cornflakes and white milk. The final layer acts as a dessert, it consist of green tea flavored jelly and sweetened red beans. While I was taking a couple of photos of this master piece, the other orders arrived.

Nana's Green Tea is not stingy on the ingredient part. Well.... after all we did pay RM 24 for one of this.

Looks beautiful, now lets see if the taste matches with its physical appearance.

From my perspective, the top layer of cream is well blended with the green tea. It gives off a little tangy acidic taste that isn't too strong to overpower the creamy filling taste. BUT.....things went downhill really fast when my tongue hit the green tea ice cream. It was bitter, and the concept of bitterness does not have a place in my ice cream. The green tea ice cream wasn't even sweet, more like a watered down version of liquefied Panadol. I mixed the green tea ice cream with the red beans to reduce the bitterness. Thankfully, that helped.

Now what is that strange looking stuff, dusted in golden powder.

As for the second layer, the cornflakes masterfully soaked up copious amount of milk and cream from the bottom, giving it a milky soggy feel that I find really appealing. Nothing to complain here.

See that green brick thing on the side of the ice cream? That is not some alien artifact from a burial ground in Mexico.

If green tea ice cream isn't enough, wait till you get your hands on this. Chocolate and green tea. Well, this is after all, Nana's Green Tea, so I was expecting to find a huge amount of tea in their menu. This brick thing taste much like the new series of Kit-Kat, green tea flavor.

To be honest, I believe chocolate should be separated from green tea the same way ice cream should be separated from it. Putting both of this together just brings in a whole new world of weird. Now lets try the yellow jelly with golden sprinkled dust on it.

Well, this one is a real gem. Sweet, with an odd flavor that I couldn't pin point its ingredients. Very creative, the golden powder on this block of jelly is made of ground nuts, lending it a nice nutty salty flavor. I like it!!!

This ice cream has also been designed to give their customers a nice, sweet farewell. At the very bottom of the glass, you will be surprised to discover a generous helping of green tea jelly mixed with sweetened red beans, like a dessert.

At least this jelly bean isn't bitter like the ice cream at the top.

I ordered an Azuke Cream Latte to wash down all those pesky green tea. This latte is a blend of red beans and milk. I am grateful for the generous cream topping at the top. It was a little watered down, but still pleasant. I was expecting it to be a little sweeter.

Overall, I think this is a pretty decent place for those who have a spot in their tongue for green tea. I wasn't a tea enthusiast, hence my inability to enjoy the experience. Sadly, my other friends enjoyed this gastronomic adventure much more than me. Don't let my opinion keep you from trying out this restaurant. After all, food is not always about the taste, BUT THE ADVENTURE!!
